Internal tooling for a professional baseball organization.

Cincinnati Reds — Internal tooling for a professional baseball organization.
Brief

Senior engineering support on internal applications used inside the Reds' technology group.

We supported the Reds’ technology group on internal applications — the kind of tooling that never shows up on the broadcast but materially shapes how the organization operates day to day. The interesting work in pro sports increasingly happens off the field: in the data, and in the software the staff carries into the dugout and the front office.

Tooling earns its keep when it works in the dugout — in real time, on a tablet, mid-game.

Where we helped

The brief was senior engineering support on the applications the technology group relies on — building new capability, keeping the existing tools fast, and applying modern AI-driven approaches where they earned their place.

  • Custom internal applications — software shaped around how the organization actually works, not off-the-shelf approximations of it.
  • Performance — finding and fixing the slow paths so tools stay responsive under real game-day load.
  • AI Ops — bringing AI-driven techniques to bear on internal workflows where they moved past novelty into genuine leverage.

The value is in the last hop — getting the right information to the right person while it still matters.

It’s tooling judged by whether it holds up when it counts: responsive, reliable, and shaped tightly enough around the work that the people using it stop noticing the software and just get the answer.
