Live video research — capture, stream, tag, and share from anywhere.

Curator is a video research platform for the people who run qualitative studies — market researchers, innovation teams, insights agencies. It replaces a world where interview video was “costly to record, time consuming to edit, and difficult to manage and share” with one seamless system: capture a session, stream it live to clients, tag the moments that matter as they happen, auto-transcribe, and cut highlight reels — whether the research happens in person, over Zoom, or through a facility’s legacy camera rig. We came on as tech lead and architect, and contributed to the patents behind the streaming system.

What we owned

The mandate was to bring the technical thesis to life and keep it running as a real product — owning the architecture and leading the engineering behind a system where live video, real-time collaboration, and reliability all have to hold at once.

• Architecture — the streaming and platform design that lets HD video move from the field to a shared backroom with the latency low enough to feel live.
• Technical leadership — setting the technical direction and leading delivery from thesis through a production platform teams depend on.
• Multi-source capture — one pipeline behind three very different inputs: iOS field devices, online interviews over Zoom, and facility camera systems.
• Patented IP — contributing to the patents that protect the streaming approach at the core of the product.

The hard part

Live video is unforgiving. A tagged comment has to line up with the exact frame it refers to; a client in the backroom has to see the room in near real time, not a minute behind; and the same platform has to behave whether the feed is a phone in the field or a fixed camera in a facility. Getting that to feel effortless — and defensible enough to patent — was the whole job.
